Rice Township Republicans, be informed that Dennis Kijek, a former registered Democrat, appears to have changed his political party affiliation. He appears to have changed so that he could run a write-in campaign against Democrat and current Rice Township Supervisor Bob Pipech, who was appointed to the vacancy when Supervisor Mark Taney resigned.Dennis ran against me in May&#8217;s primary election for the six-year supervisor vacancy and lost. The Luzerne County Election Office decided that Pipech had to be on the ballot in November&#8217;s general election for the four-year supervisor vacancy. There did not appear to be any Republican candidates who wanted to run for this position.Since Pipech and I are registered Democrats and on the ballot, Kijek could not be on the ballot as a Democrat.So, Kijek appears to have changed to a Republican so that he can conduct a write-in campaign against Pipech.
