The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Inc. is inviting middle or high school students of Luzerne County to enter the 2015-2016 Irish History Contest. This annual contest is open to any students (public, private, parochial, or home-schooled) of grades 6 through 12. This year&#8217;s topic for the centenary of the Irish Uprising honors the women of &#201;rin: The Involvement of Women in the 1916 Easter Rising.There are two categories: Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12. Cash prizes are awarded to winners at the state and national levels. More information and specific guidelines for entry can be obtained by contacting Mary Ellen Dooley, Division Historian, at (570) 735-1711, or by visiting the National website at www.ladiesaoh.com. Deadline for Division entries is November 15, 2015.The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Inc., is a charitable organization founded in 1894, and aims to promote Irish history and culture. Luzerne County includes Division 1 St. John Neumann of Wilkes-Barre, and Division 10 Mother Jones, of Hazleton.
