<p>FORTY FORT &#8212; Last year around this time, the Wyoming Seminary&#8217;s boys soccer team started to get hot and rode that momentum all the way to a District 2 Class A championship.</p><p>The Blue Knights are starting to heat up again at the right time, and won their second straight Wyoming Valley Conference Division 3 title on Wednesday topping Holy Redeemer, 2-0 at the Luzerne County Recreational Facility.</p><p>Sem (10-5-1) entered last season&#8217;s district tournament on an eight-game winning streak and will start next week&#8217;s event having lost just twice in its last eight matches. The team will likely enter districts as either the second or third seed. Full pairings will be released this weekend.</p><p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t have the scoring punch we had last year, but the guys work hard and they make opportunities and we&#8217;ve been able to capitalize on it,&#8221; Seminary coach Rev. Charles Carrick said. &#8220;Feeling good as we go into playoffs. As division champions, hopefully we get a high seed and get some home games.&#8221;</p><p>Holy Redeemer (8-7) fell short of claiming its first boys soccer division championship in school history. The Royals will likely be seeded in the upper half of the D2 Class A bracket after finishing up their regular season schedule on Friday against Wyoming Area.</p><p>Even though the team lost on Wednesday, Redeemer isn&#8217;t discouraged because the team&#8217;s biggest goal is still within reach.</p><p>&#8220;The ultimate goal of every team is to win a district title and this didn&#8217;t eliminate us from the opportunity to win a district title,&#8221; Redeemer coach Mike Sokolas said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a competitive district, quite a few good teams in it, but there&#8217;s an opportunity for us to really go deep into the playoffs this year.&#8221;</p><p>After battling scoreless for nearly the entire first half, the Blue Knights took a 1-0 lead when Edge Miller found the back of the net after beating keeper Anthony Khoudary with 4:47 left. Andrew Kim&#8217;s tally less than three minutes into the second half gave Sem a 2-0 lead as it avenged a 2-1 loss in overtime to the Royals three weeks ago.</p><p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know that we were as aggressive on the ball as we were last game,&#8221; Sokolas said. &#8220;We improved in the second half, turned it on more in the second half of the game, more of what we&#8217;re capable of.&#8221;</p><p>From there, Sem depended on its reliable defense, which has been consistent all season. Even though the Blue Knights have lost three more times this season than last, the defense hasn&#8217;t missed much only allowing just 13 goals in 16 matches this season, matching the totals they allowed in last year&#8217;s regular season.</p><p>&#8220;Kyle Hall our goalie has done a great job this season and we haven&#8217;t really been blown out at all,&#8221; Carrick said. &#8220;I think we&#8217;ve done a good job defensively. We just continue to work hard in the midfield and create opportunities.&#8221;</p><p>Down by two, Sokolas started to push players more in Sem&#8217;s side of the field. Redeemer got more chances by doing that, but the Knights defense was quick to surround the ball. While the Royals, who were ousted in last year&#8217;s district quarterfinals by the Blue Knights, got four shots off, only one of them was on goal, and three late corner kicks also came up empty.</p><p>&#8220;Sem&#8217;s a very good team, but I think the way we played in the second half is the way we&#8217;re capable of playing, controlling the play and creating opportunities for ourselves,&#8221; Sokolas said. &#8220;We saw what we were capable of, now we just have to do it for 80 minutes.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Wyoming Valley West 13,</strong></p><p><strong>GAR 1</strong></p><p>Mike Bazadona found the back of the net four times and collected three assists as he led Wyoming Valley West past GAR. Nick Bazadona and Hunnter Maxwell each had two goals, Joysen Gonzalez scored once and assisted on two and Kyle Yusko added four helpers for the Spartans.</p><p>Emmanuel Edoukou score the only goal of the night for the Grenadiers.</p><p><strong>Dallas 10, MMI Prep 1</strong></p><p>Christian Kimmerle netted a hat trick and Nate Maransky scored twice as Dallas cruised past MMI Prep.
