Hazleton man admits to molesting unconscious girl

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A former Luzerne County correctional officer wants a lighter sentence for selling oxycodone.</p><p>John Taffera, 40, of Larksville, filed a motion, Tuesday asking Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas to reduce his sentence from two to four months in Luzerne County Correctional Facility followed by 10 months of house arrest to a sentence in the county&#8217;s Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) beginning with a term of home confinement.</p><p>Taffera was one of 13 nabbed last year in a state Office of Attorney General steroid-ring roundup dubbed &#8220;Operation Gym Candy.&#8221; His motion argues his sentence is higher than those of other defendants also charged in the same case.</p><p>The document specifically mentions three defendants, all of whom were sentenced to terms in IPP on anabolic steroid charges.</p><p>Taffera filed the motion through his attorney Joseph D&#8217;Andrea.</p><style>
