Stevenson too much for Wilkes on senior day

<p><strong>Megan Daily,</strong> Dallas, National American Miss State Ambassador, daughter of Ken and Bev Daily, has earned the opportunity to represent the state of Pennsylvania and attend the National American Miss Pageants through her successful scored events in public speaking and stage performance.</p><p>The pageant is to be held in Anaheim, California at Disneyland during Thanksgiving week. She will have the opportunity to win her share of over $500,000 in cash and prizes.</p><p><strong>Marisa Silver,</strong> O. Henry Award-winning author, will read excerpts from her work during a free public event at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in the Burke Auditorium in the William G. McGowan School of Business on North River Street at King&#8217;s College.</p><p>Silver is the 2015 visiting writer, a program sponsored by the college&#8217;s English department. She will also work with English students on their creative writing as part of a two-day campus residency.</p><p>Silver&#8217;s most recently novel, Mary Coin, is a New York Times bestseller.</p><p>Selected volumes of her fiction will be available for purchase prior to the event at King&#8217;s/Wilkes Barnes &amp; Noble Bookstore, S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, and at the reading.</p><p>Parking will be available at on-campus lots. No tickets are required. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information contact Jennifer Yonkoski, instructor of English at King&#8217;s College at 570-208-5900, ext. 5487; or e-mail jenniferyonkoski@kings.edu.</p><p><strong>Reverend Mariusz Beczek, O.S.J.,</strong> will be guest speaker at The Oblates of St. Joseph Laity Association&#8217;s fall formation conference to be held form 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, in St. Joseph&#8217;s Chapel on Highway 315, Laflin. The celebration of Mass will follow the conference at 4:30 p.m., with the serving of refreshments afterwards.</p><p>Fr. Mariusz was born in Ryki, Poland and ordained to the priesthood as an Oblate of St. Joseph in 1998. Since his ordination, Fr. Mariusz has served the Oblates of St. Joseph in California from 1998-2015. He is currently the formation director at the newly established Oblates of St. Joseph House of Formation in Bala Cynwyd, PA.</p><p>The conference is free and open to everyone. For more information and reservations, please contact laity president, Elaine Fisher at 570-407-0006.</p><p><strong>Dr. Michael Hogan, PhD</strong>, from Hogan Health Solutions, PA, will be the guest speaker at the sixth annual National Family Week Conference to be held at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, at Genetti Best Western Hotel and Conference Center in Wilkes-Barre.
