Misericordia sophomore becomes LCCC trustee freshman

<p>KINGSTON - The Canterbury School Saints went marching out of Kingston on Halloween night Saturday to the tune of a 42-22 win against Wyoming Seminary on Senior Night.</p><p>The Blue Knights didn&#8217;t make things easy for them, though.</p><p>For Sem coach Jeff Holloway, Senior Night meant something special to him and his seniors.</p><p>&#8220;Over half of the 14 seniors started with me here three years ago when we didn&#8217;t have a program,&#8221; Holloway said. &#8220;And just like was said at the halftime ceremony, if it was easy everybody would do it, but it wasn&#8217;t easy.&#8221;</p><p>It took Canterbury five running plays to cover 63 yards in less than three minutes on its first drive to go up 6-0 on quarterback Jake Gigliotti&#8217;s 35-yard run.</p><p>Gigliotti ran for three scores and threw for one.</p><p>After Canterbury went up 14-0, Sem went to its quick-strike air attack on the next play when Trent Johnson found junior Duncan Brieg on a 53-yard seam route down to the Saints 12-yard line. Two plays later, Dimetri Kelly capitalized from two yards out and then again by running it in on the two-point conversion, making it 14-8.</p><p>Canterbury, though, converted a Sem fumble into a touchdown to take a 22-8 lead into halftime.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re not good enough to turn the football over, just like most everybody else,&#8221; Holloway said. &#8220;We&#8217;ve got to win two stats &#8212; the turnover battle and the score. We&#8217;re not a turnover team and we did it in two key situations.&#8221;</p><p>The second half started with Canterbury picking off Sem pass and returning it 30 yards. Five plays later, Canterbury cashed in again with an 8-yard keeper by Gigliotti to make it 28-8.</p><p>Holloway liked that his team kept pushing hard until the end.</p><p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t talk enough about how hard our kids fight,&#8221; Holloway said. &#8220;They fight from the first minute of the game to the last minute whether they&#8217;re outmanned or not.&#8221;</p><style>
