<p>COURTDALE &#8212; A man driving an SUV along a curve on Courtdale Ave. drifted across lanes, leveled a chain link fence and careened into a house, knocking the porch roof down and damaging what the homeowner called his &#8220;unique&#8221; mail box.</p><p>The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for examination, Courtdale Fire Chief Anthony Yuscavage said. There were no passengers and no one was injured in the house.</p><p>&#8220;I was going to the gym when my wife called me and said the porch roof came off,&#8221; Frank Kodra said as he surveyed the damage while the SUV was pulled from the wreckage. &#8220;She said she heard a noise, but she didn&#8217;t realize a car had hit it.&#8221;</p><p>Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Mark Sadowski declined to give the name of the driver on scene, but said a &#8220;medical condition&#8221; appeared to have caused the accident, which occurred near the corner of Courtdale Ave. and Hoyt Street.</p><p>Kodra said he&#8217;s lived in the house for 37 years. It sits on right a curve in the Avenue if a driver is heading to Luzerne, putting the building in a straight path for someone who misses the curve, though a driver has to travel through a neighbor&#8217;s yard as happened in this case.</p><p>&#8220;A few years ago a lady, also apparently with a medical condition, hit the cellar window,&#8221; Kodra said. &#8220;She missed the gas meter by two feet. He missed it by three feet the other way.&#8221;</p><p>Kodra took the damage in stride, joking to one of the firefighters placing caution tape around the scene. &#8220;It&#8217;s a good thing I have pictures of it so I can get it rebuilt the way it was,&#8221; he said.</p><p>Kodra also pointed to his mailbox lying on the ground, still largely intact. &#8220;I&#8217;ll have to fix that,&#8221; he said of the box shaped like a covered wagon ready to head west. &#8220;I wanted something unique.&#8221;</p><style>
