<p>PLAINS TWP. &#8212;Township police called off the search for a man who fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident earlier in the morning, believing he had been picked up by someone.</p><p>Police say Wallace Thomas of Exeter was driving his white van with a suspended license when he crashed into the outdoor deck of Sprinkles and Shakes on River Street near Corey Street. The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. Thomas fled the scene before police arrived.</p><p>A manhunt was immediately launched through the woods between River Street and the Susquehanna banks. A dog was brought in and the trail followed north to Perennial Point Park. An officer stationed there later in the morning said Thomas was believed to have doubled back and headed south.</p><p>Though the search was called off by 11 a.m., the duty officer at the Township Police Department said Thomas, 34, will face numerous citations. The officer also said Thomas is wanted by the Luzerne County Sheriff&#8217;s office for failing to appear in court for similar prior charges.</p><p><strong>Posted 8:32 a.m.</strong></p><p>Township police have brought a dog into the search for a person who crashed a van into the deck of Sprinkles and Shakes on River Street in Plains.</p><p>The driver apparently came out of or near the landscaping business, crossed river street, went between two poles and veered right, crashing into the ice cream stand, an officer on the scene said before heading into the woods to assist with the search. The driver fled on foot into the woods along the Susquehanna River.
