Eight Wyoming Valley Conference football teams will be in action this coming weekend in the postseason.Berwick, Coughlin, Dallas, Lake-Lehman, Meyers, Northwest, Williamsport and Wyoming Valley West qualified for the playoffs. The Lackawanna Football Conference had 11 teams advance, but four are in the District 2 Class A playoffs where all teams made the playoffs.The WVC field is headed by Wyoming Valley West (10-0), which captured the top seed in the District 2/4-11 Class 4A playoffs. The Spartans open the tournament by playing eight-seeded Nazareth (5-5) at 7 p.m. Friday at Spartan Stadium in Kingston.Valley West will have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. If the Spartans defeat Nazareth, they will host the winner of No. 5 Bethlehem Liberty (7-3) at No. 4 Stroudsburg (8-2). Those teams play at 7 p.m. Saturday. The other quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Friday are No. 7 Delaware Valley (7-3) at No. 2 Parkland (9-1) and No. 6 Easton (7-3) at No. 3 Bethlehem Freedom (9-1).Both D2-3A semifinals are at 1 p.m. Saturday. No. 4 Dallas (6-4) plays at No 1. Scranton Prep (9-1). No. 3 Coughlin (7-3) plays at No. 2 Berwick (8-2).The D2-2A semifinals are 7 p.m. Friday. No. 4 Northwest (7-3) is at No. 1 Dunmore (9-1). No. 3 Lakeland (7-3) is at No. 2 Lake-Lehman (9-1).The D2-A semifinals are 7 p.m. Friday with No. 4 Susquehanna (2-8) at No. 1 Old Forge (9-1), and No. 3 Holy Cross (2-8) at No. 3 Lackawanna Trail (5-5).Meyers (7-3) earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference 2A playoffs and will host Palisades (5-5) at 7 p.m. Friday. The other semifinal game will be No. 3 Riverside (5-5) at No. 2 Mount Carmel (6-4) at 7 p.m. Friday.Williamsport (6-4) is the third seed in the Eastern Conference 4A playoffs and travel to No. 2 Emmaus (5-5) for a 7 p.m. game Friday. No. 4 Reading (5-5) is at No. 2 Pleasant Valley (6-4) at 7 p.m. Friday in the other semifinal.Valley View out of the LFC also made the Eastern Conference. The second-seeded Cougars (6-4) host third-seeded Allentown Central Catholic (5-5) at 7 p.m. Friday in a Class 3A game. No. 4 Southern Lehigh (7-3) plays at top-seeded Jim Thorpe (8-2) in the other semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday.All district and Eastern Conference championship games will be played at the home field of the higher seed.
