Call Janet at 570-501-6204 to RSVP.NANTICOKE: The Luzerne County Community College Literary Arts Society will hold its annual Veterans Day program at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the college&#8217;s campus center.This year&#8217;s program, designed to honor the nation&#8217;s veterans, will highlight the National Guard.In conjunction with the annual program, the college also will hold a veterans information night from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the college&#8217;s campus center. Information for veterans about financial aid, tuition costs, admissions procedures, and academic programs will be available.PLAINS: Plains Township board of commissioners are dedicating a new monument to honor the men and women who honorably served our country.The dedication will take place at noon on Wednesday, Veterans Day, at the Plains Veterans Park located on the corner of Maffett and South River streets.PLYMOUTH: The Wyoming Valley West Middle School will be holding a Veterans Day assembly to honor those who so bravely serve/served our great nation. The assembly will have several special speakers, including State Representative Aaron Kaufer.The assembly will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Middle School auditorium.In addition, to show appreciation, the assembly will be preceded by a breakfast prepared by students, under the direction of our family consumer science teacher, at 8:30 a.m. and run until approximately 9:45 a.m.SCRANTON: Marywood University&#8217;s Office of Military and Veteran Services and the Student Veteran Alliance (SVA) will lead activities to honor those who are serving and those who have served our country at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday at the Marywood Veterans Resource Center, 2236 N. Washington Avenue, Scranton, on the university&#8217;s campus.Marywood Cadets from the University of Scranton Royal Warrior Battalion will provide the Color Guard, and Marywood trumpeters will play &#8220;Echo TAPS,&#8221; surrounding the more than 6,800 flags which represent fallen troops from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.A national moment of silence will take place at 11:11 a.m. This event is free and open to the public. The Field of Flags will be on display from Monday through Friday. WILKES-BARRE: The Jewish Community Center, 60 South River Street in Wilkes-Barre, is hosting a special Veteran&#8217;s Day lunch to honor veteran&#8217;s on Thursday. All veteran&#8217;s will be guests and be treated to a special music presentation. Reservations are necessary, 570-824-4646.
