<p>PLAINS TWP. &#8212; A man police say stole an ambulance from Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center is headed to higher court.</p><p>David Joseph Karosus, 55, of Carbondale, appeared before Magisterial District Judge Joseph Carmody Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. Court records indicate Carmody waived to county court a felony charge of theft by unlawful taking and a summary charge of driving with a suspended license.</p><p>A felony charge of receiving stolen property was withdrawn.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint, Plains Township Police were advised at 4:38 a.m. Nov. 1 an ambulance had been stolen from Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.</p><p>Luzerne County Communications tracked the ambulance&#8217;s location using GPS and found the vehicle was traveling north and later east on Interstate 81.</p><p>Karosus was taken into custody after the ambulance was stopped on Interstate 84 in Elmhurst Township, Lackawanna County, by troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Dunmore.</p><p>Karosus allegedly told police he was a patient at Geisinger Wyoming Valley and decided to leave after receiving medical treatment to his leg. Karosus allegedly saw the ambulance parked when he decided to drive it back to his residence in Carbondale.</p><p>Karosus will appear at the Luzerne County Courthouse for a formal arraignment at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 14.</p><p>Court documents also indicate per an agreement, Karosus&#8217; bail was adjusted to $10,000 unsecured, which he posted Tuesday.</p><style>
