BUTLER TWP. &#8212; The township supervisors voted Tuesday night to schedule a public hearing on Dec. 8 to receive public input on a proposed project that entails construction of a new municipal building.Maryann Petrilla, township manager, said the matter is very preliminary at this point and a couple of sites are being considered, one of which could be at CAN DO&#8217;s office park located in the township .While Petrilla declined to be specific, she did add that a preliminary inquiry has been made to the U.S. Department of Agriculture about a grant to help offset construction costs.The public meeting, Petrilla emphasized, &#8220;is to just seek public input.&#8221;The same meeting is also intended to receive comment about a proposed &#8220;Notification Ordinance,&#8221; which entails the use of power equipment and explosives for public and private projects in the township. The ordinance, basically, stipulates property owners will be required to give township officials 20 days notice before initiating a project and contractors will be required to give the township written notice 10 days in advance.It is noted in the language of the proposed ordinance, exceptions will be granted in the cases of emergencies.The ordinance stipulates a fine ranging from $300 to $1,000 for any violations of its provisions.In other actions, the supervisors:&#8226; Designated a street off Honey Hole Road as Pulpit Rock Lane. The change affects seven residents and was done at the request of the Luzerne County 911.&#8226; Voted to release $23,099 from a performance bond for work performed by Franzosa Excavating of Hazleton at the Riccardi Drive cul-de-sac.&#8226; Announced that a proposed $3 million 2016 budget will be on public display beginning Nov. 17.
