The Wilkes-Barre Salvation Army has a new program called &#8220;Bridging The Gap,&#8221; and I believe the public should know more about it. This after-school program is a 12-week, life-changing experience for at-risk youths ages 12 to 17.Recently, along with several other Wilkes University students who are a part of Zebra Communications, I visited the Bridging the Gap facility at the Salvation Army.This program gets its leadership from Andreea Higdon, who prides herself on the success of the program&#8217;s youths. She puts a lot of time and effort into making sure this program benefits all who attend, but more so into showing each youth his or her personal potential to grow. This program teaches life-skill lessons related to self-esteem, communication, money management, education and employment. They put the youth first at the Bridging The Gap program, and that&#8217;s what matters when you&#8217;re trying to make a difference in the community.Any parent, teacher, counselor or other person who would like to refer a youth to this program should contact Higdon at 570-824-8741 ext. 103.William DeemerWilkes-Barre
