Deer Hunter Focus Areas point hunters to some of the best deer habitats on state game lands

<p>Arline Dennis of 119 Church Road, Shickshinny, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015. She is the daughter of Olive Primrose Baer and Hugh Hughes, and the step-daughter of Charles H. Long.</p><p>She attended the one-room school in Reyburn and also Shickshinny High School. In her youth she attended the Reyburn Bible Protestant Church, now called the Reyburn Bible Church, where she played the piano and taught Sunday school and organized the church Christmas programs. She was also active in the church youth group, Christian Endeavor.</p><p>Arline married Charles Elmer Dennis in Koonsville on Nov. 23, 1939. They have two sons, Wayne Charles and Zane Elmer. Arline and her family attended Harmony Methodist Church where she played the piano, directed the choir and taught Sunday school. She and Elmer were founding members of Woodland Bible Chapel where she again played the piano and taught Sunday school. She also played the piano for numerous evangelistic meetings in the area and was the pianist at Patterson Grove Campmeeting for 13 years.</p><p>In 1956, Arline began giving private piano lessons and continued until 2010, teaching more than 500 students during that time. She also taught music at Muhlenburg Christian Academy for 22 years, retiring at age 90. For 16 years she served as Judge of Elections in Union Township, Luzerne County.</p><p>A party was given in Arline&#8217;s honor on July 26 at Patterson Grove Campground. Over 200 people attended, including Representative Lisa Baker. She will enjoy special celebrations with family and friends during her birthday week. Arline continues to regularly attend services at Woodland Bible Chapel and resides with her son in rural Shickshinny. Birthday wishes may be sent to the above address.</p><style>
