Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre to show classic film ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ Dec. 19-20 as free gift to the community

<p>DALLAS TWP. &#8212; Mary Trexler considered not putting up a Christmas tree this year, but the Masonic Village Holiday Art and Music event at the Irem Temple Clubhouse held Dec. 3 changed her tune.</p><p>&#8220;I did think about just putting out my snowmen collection,&#8221; the Dallas resident said. &#8220;I think I will put out a tree now.&#8221;</p><p>Trexler&#8217;s renewed holiday spirit was inspired by carols provided during the annual Masonic Village&#8217;s Holiday Art and Music event hosted by the Irem Temple Clubhouse, a free event that featured the Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony Chorus and the Dallas High School Music Department.</p><p>Also, paintings, charcoal drawings, pottery and more from students at Ani Art Academies based in Bear Creek, Misericordia University in Dallas and Luzerne County Community Collage in Nanticoke were on display.</p><p>Painter Tom Hartz, of Lake Silkworth, featured his ability to capture wildlife with the swipe of a brush. Hartz was painting a fall white birch scene while guests admired his work.</p><p>Attendees were treated to fresh fruits and vegetables and small finger sandwiches.</p><p>The event has been held for the past three years, said Joy Hubshman, director of sales and marketing at the Masonic Village.</p><p>&#8220;It is our way to give back to the community,&#8221; Hubshman said, adding last year&#8217;s event drew nearly 150 guests.</p><p>In front of over 100 attendees, the Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony Chorus and members of the Dallas High School Music Department each performed an hour-long set.</p><p>Trexler found herself coaxed to sit in front of the 16-member Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony Chorus for its rendition of Ricky Nelson&#8217;s &#8220;Hello Mary Lou.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;It was a surprise. I&#8217;m glad they didn&#8217;t try to make me sing,&#8221; Trexler said. &#8220;I can&#8217;t carry a tune.&#8221;</p><p>The Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony Chorus performed a variety of songs, including &#8220;White Christmas,&#8221; &#8220;Little St. Nick&#8221; and a German and English version of &#8220;Silent Night.&#8221;</p><p>The 12-member Dallas High School Music Department, led by Cassie Palfy, filled the air with &#8220;Rock&#8217;in Around The Christmas Tree,&#8221; &#8220;Where are you Christmas?&#8221; &#8220;Bitty Bitty Bom Bom&#8221; and &#8220;No Room at the Inn.&#8221;</p><p>Jackie Domzalski, of Shavertown, enjoyed the musical entertainment and camaraderie of other guests.</p><p>&#8220;I enjoyed it last year,&#8221; Domzalski said. &#8220;It is very nice.&#8221;</p><style>
