Regulators want more details about Walgreens-Rite Aid deal

<p>WILKES-BARRE TWP. &#8212; A man is facing a slew of charges after police say he tried to use a child in an alleged retail theft at Walmart in Wilkes-Barre Township Marketplace on Thursday.</p><p>Store security reported to police at 6:53 p.m. that Jose Luis Rojas, 29, of Wilkes-Barre, allegedly concealed $25.93 worth of merchandise into a backpack. A 6-year-old that was with Rojas reportedly carried the backpack out of the store, where Rojas and the child were detained.</p><p>When police arrived, Rojas allegedly became combative with officers and struck officer Lee Ann Reh in the neck.</p><p>Police said Rojas was then taken into custody, when police discovered that he was in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.</p><p>Rojas is charged with retail theft, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and harassment.</p><p>Rojas was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Dotzel, and was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 bail.</p><p>A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Dec. 16 before Dotzel.</p><style>
