<p>HANOVER TWP. &#8212; Pennsylvania CVS Pharmacy LLC is getting ready to open a new store at the Crossroads.</p><p>A new CVS on the corner of Oxford Street and the Sans Souci Parkway, the former Crossroads Pharmacy stood until it closed in 2010, is set to open in late January, according to Stephanie Cunha, spokeswoman for CVS Health.</p><p>&#8220;The new store will be 13,000 square feet, compared to the 9,000 square feet at the existing Carey Avenue location,&#8221; Cunha said, referencing the old store about two blocks away which will close. Employees at the current Carey Avenue location will move to the new location.</p><p>Building a larger store means new and expanded features. Cunha said the new store will offer a drive-thru pharmacy, a photo section and an expanded grocery section.</p><p>In early 2015, Pennsylvania CVS Pharmacy LLC purchased the former Crossroads Pharmacy and two adjacent parcels: Crossroads Motors and a Sunoco gas station. According to documents filed in the Luzerne County Recorder of Deeds office, the total price for the parcels was $2.28 million.</p><p>&#8220;We are hiring additional colleagues for the pharmacy area,&#8221; Cunha said.</p><p>The new location was under construction when a spark from welders on the roof of the building landed on a bundle of insulation and caught fire in August. Smoke and ash damaged part of the inside of the building.</p><p>According to Sam Guesto, Hanover Township manager, the date for opening has been pushed back from the original Jan. 4 date.</p><p>&#8220;With more traffic and customers and amenities, I hope it brings more business,&#8221; Guesto said. He also hopes the move will &#8220;spur someone to take the Pizza Hut property&#8221; which unexpectedly closed in September.</p><p>To coincide with the demolition and building of CVS, Guesto said the township commissioners secured funding to pave Oxford Street. The project brought new lining, new pedestrian areas and paved ramps to help the traffic flow.</p><p>The township, along with the Luzerne County Development Authority and the state, repaired the railroad tracks and crossing.</p><p>&#8220;It took nine tons of asphalt to pave underneath the tracks,&#8221; Guesto said. &#8220;This way drivers don&#8217;t have to swerve to avoid potholes.&#8221;</p><style>
