Plymouth Borough Council passes budget with no tax increase

Wilkes-Barre finances move into red as year ends, but Leighton says there’s nothing to fear

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Luzerne County judge Tuesday sentenced a Kingston man who prostituted his wife after advertising her online.</p><p>Matthew David Kopetchny, 27, was sentenced by Luzerne County Judge Tina Polachek Gartley to three to six months in prison on one felony county of promoting prostitution of his 20-year-old wife, Courtney Morgan Montagna.</p><p>Kopetchny, of Division Street, Kingston, was also sentenced to two years probation for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint:</p><p>Kingston police on Dec. 23, 2014, met with a confidential informant who said he had arranged a sexual encounter with a woman whose number he found on the classified advertisements website Backpage.com.</p><p>The CI told police he arranged &#8220;a half hour for $130&#8221; with the woman, who called herself &#8220;April.&#8221; She instructed him to go to the corner of Division and Chestnut streets in Kingston and park nearby. The CI was then taken into a residence at 46 Division St. where he paid $100 for a sexual act.</p><p>Police then witnessed Montagna and Kopetchny leave the residence with an infant. They were asked where the $100 was and Kopetchny removed the amount from his wallet and gave it to police.</p><p>Both admitted to police they posted the photographs of Montagna on Backpage.com because they needed money. Montagna began performing sexual acts for between $100 and $200 while Kopetchny waited in an adjacent room to make sure his wife wasn&#8217;t in danger. Sometimes the infant son was present in the home during the acts, police said.</p><p>Montagna and Kopetchny both told police Montagna had between 10 to 20 customers.</p><p>When Kingston police returned to the residence in February to arrest the couple, officers found marijuana and a digital scale. Police said text messages found on Montagna&#8217;s phone indicated both she and Kopetchny were dealing the marijuana.</p><p>Kopetchny was remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.</p><style>
