<p>Sub-freezing temperatures are expected to kick off the first week of 2016.</p><p>Despite most sunny skies throughout the day, expect the high Monday to linger in the low 20s, with overnight lows expected to drop to 7 degrees. Wind chills are expected to drop as low as -6 degrees.</p><p>Not helping the frigid temperatures is an 18 mph wind with reported gusts as high as 26 mph at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre International Airport in Avoca.</p><p>Tuesday is projected to be sunny and clear. The high is expected to reach 26 degrees while the evening low is expected to dip to 9 degrees.</p><p>Wednesday will likely see a high of 36 and a low of 18 with mostly clear skies.</p><p>Thursday and Friday are expected to be most sunny with highs in the low 40s. Rain is likely Friday evening.</p><style>
