Yashinski won 2-1. A round later in the quarters, Crestwood&#8217;s Ron Grevera knocked off Yashinski, 1-0.Also in the preliminaries, Wyoming Valley West&#8217;s Sammy Novas defeated seventh-seeded John Walsh from Tunkhannock. While a No. 7 seed losing isn&#8217;t much of an upset, it is because Novas won by fall in 2:31 and earned just his second win of the season.Reaching a centuryThe 100-win club welcomed a new member on Friday when Tunkhannock&#8217;s Billy Manley pinned Pittston Area&#8217;s John Martinez in the 152-pound quarterfinals.Match of the DayIn a rematch from what was supposed the fifth-place match at the X-Calibur Tournament last month when Pittston Area&#8217;s Jason DeBoard grabbed fifth by beating Valley West&#8217;s Jon Lagoski due to a forfeit, Lagoski showed what might have happened if the match occurred.In a thrilling 160-pound quarterfinal, Lagoski defeated DeBoard 12-8 to advance to the semifinals holding on late for the victory.Semifinal tidbits&#8226; Hazleton Area has the most semifinalists of any team with 10, while Tunkhannock and Meyers each have nine. Lake-Lehman is next in line with seven.&#8226; Twelve of the 14 teams will have at least one representative in the semis.
