DALLAS TOWNSHIP &#8212; Second generation owner of Ye Olde Clock Shoppe, Tom Quinn knows the value of time well spent doing what you love.That&#8217;s why the 49-year-old always has a smile and the thought of retiring from the family-owned business is the furthest thing from his mind.&#8220;I love what I do and don&#8217;t ever plan to retire,&#8221; he said.Quinn used his time wisely and learned the delicate intricacies of the workings of clocks to business basics from his parents.He complimented his knowledge with a degree in business marketing and management from Penn State.Today, he continues the legacy of the 48-year-old business in the Dallas Shopping Center by selling a variety of mantle clocks, floor clocks, cuckoo clocks, wall clocks, antique clocks as well as a variety of watches.Under Quinn&#8217;s management, the business began offering a selection of locally made jewelry, wooden boxes and a variety of gift items and collectibles. He even makes service calls to ensure his clients enjoy the chimes of life.Where did you go to college?Penn State Wilkes-Barre (in Lehman Township) and (Penn State) University Park.What was your major?Business Marketing and Management.What was your first job out of college?I worked at Ye Olde Clock &amp; Gift Shoppe all through college.What has been the best advice you received in business?Never stop chasing your dreams - persistence.If your business had a limitless budget, what would be three things you would do differently?1. Expand2. Advertise nationally3. Open additional locationsWhat are our area&#8217;s biggest strengths and weaknesses?We have great outdoor activities, friendly family-oriented neighborhoods, great educational opportunities, and proximity to New York City, New York, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.Where did you grow up?In Kingston until the 1972 flood and then Plains Township.Tell us about your family.I have worked with my family since I was a kid. My parents have recently retired and now I am expanding the business.What&#8217;s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?Take out our Spaniels and reflect on the beauty of a new day.What&#8217;s the last thing you do at night before you fall asleep?I give thanks for my customers, family and friends.Where&#8217;s your favorite place to go on vacation?Ogunquit, Maine.What&#8217;s your favorite restaurant and/or meal?I love local family-owned restaurants and am a connoisseur of chicken parmesan.What do you want to do when you retire?I love what I do and don&#8217;t ever plan to retire!
