Diplomats to meet in Geneva before Syria conference

<p>WASHINGTON &#8212; Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Alex Douglass will accompany U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey as a guest at the State of the Union address tonight.</p><p>In a news release from Toomey&#8217;s office, Toomey invited Douglass to attend the event. Douglass was injured after Eric Frein allegedly opened fire outside of the Blooming Grove state police barracks on Sept. 12, 2014. During the attack, Frein allegedly shot Douglass in the pelvis and killed Cpl. Bryon Dickson.</p><p>&#8220;It is an honor to attend the State of the Union address,&#8221; Douglass said in a news release &#8220;It is also an honor to be invited by Sen. Pat Toomey to attend. It is a one in a lifetime opportunity. This is just another fine example of the community coming together after the tragic Blooming Grove incident. I feel privileged to represent the Pennsylvania State Police and all other law enforcement agencies in the country.&#8221;</p><p>After the alleged shooting, Frein led police on a 48-day manhunt through Northeastern Pennsylvania forests before U.S. marshals caught him outside an abandoned airplane hanger approximately 30 miles from the shooting scene.</p><p>Frein is currently awaiting trial.</p><style>
