Santa visits Pittston Knights of Columbus

The Newport Township board of commissioners held their reorganizational meeting on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016. The meeting began with the swearing in by District Judge Don Whittaker of Deborah Forgach-Zalenski, Paul Czapracki and Michael Roke as newly elected commissioners.After the swearing in Paul Czapracki was elected president and John Zyla was elected vice-president. Richard V. Zika was appointed secretary, Richard C. Shiptoski, solicitor and Jeremy Blank, chief of police. PennEastern, Inc., was named township engineer and F.N.C.B and P.L.G.I.T. were named depositories for township funds.President Czapracki appointed the following commissioners to oversee the various departments: street department, Mr. Czapracki; police department, Mr Zyla; code enforcement, Ms. Forgaach-Zaleski; fire department, Mr. Roke, and park, Mr. Vishnefski.Meetings for 2016 will be held at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the municipal building, 351 W. Kirmar Ave., Wanamie.
