Cattle farmers battle fluctuating winter temperatures

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A man has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his 81-year-old grandmother in suburban Philadelphia. Authorities in Chester County said the 23-year-old defendant is also charged with the attempted rape of his mother and the victim. District Attorney Tom Hogan called the crime "a brutal attack" that had "traumatized" the family. Prosecutors allege that the suspect argued with his mother after returning home early Tuesday. They allege that he attacked his mother and then his grandmother and stabbed the older woman more than 20 times. Prosecutors said he was voluntarily committed to Brandywine Hospital last month after threatening to harm himself. Court documents don't list an attorney who could respond to the charges and a message left at the defendant's number wasn't immediately returned.
