PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A major winter storm heading up the East Coast is bringing a blizzard watch to areas of southeastern Pennsylvania. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, says the blizzard watch is in effect from Friday night through Sunday morning. Philadelphia could see up to 18 inches of snow, along with strong winds and blowing snow. A winter storm watch remains in place for inland areas like Allentown and Harrisburg. Some schools in Pittsburgh delayed opening Thursday because of snow on side streets and snow also dusted some areas in the Poconos. Pennsylvania's Transportation Department has started treating major highways in anticipation of the weekend storm. The looming storm is expected to bring heavy snow and winds from the Appalachians up to New York.
