Our Opinion: Home and Garden Show allows spring to take root (in spirit)

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Attorneys for Eleazar Yisrael have been granted more time to file pre-trial motions ahead of the Hazleton homicide suspect&#8217;s upcoming murder trial.</p><p>Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough on Friday signed an order granting Yisrael&#8217;s defense counsel an additional 30 days to file pre-trial motions. Assistant District Attorney Dan Zola agreed to the extension filed by Yisrael&#8217;s attorney, Allyson L. Kacmarski, court records show.</p><p>Yisrael, 30, of 33 W. 10th St., Hazleton, is <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/380969/hazleton-man-charged-with-homicide" target="_blank">charged with the 2014 shooting death</a> of Samuel Vacante.</p><p>State police allege Israel murdered Vacante, tried to clean up the scene, drove away with Vacante&#8217;s body in the victim&#8217;s own car and <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/380879/body-of-missing-butler-township-man-found-in-carbon-county" target="_blank">disposed of it in Carbon County</a>.</p><p>An autopsy had confirmed Vacante died of a gunshot to his back. The matter of death was ruled a homicide.</p><p>Yisrael&#8217;s murder trial is scheduled to begin May 31 at the Luzerne County Courthouse.</p><style>
