<p>Matt Murray kept Wilkes-Barre/Scranton alive with some big saves late, but it was two early goals that sunk the Penguins.</p><p>In a battle of Atlantic Division contenders, Mike McKenna outdueled Murray in net to give Portland a 2-1 win over the first-place Penguins on Friday at Cross Insurance Arena.</p><p>It was the sixth straight win for the Pirates, who have used the streak to climb the ladder to challenge Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Hershey as the season passes the midway point.</p><p>Portland struck not long after the puck dropped as Brett Olson tapped in a feed from Brent Regner just 1:57 into the contest. Wade Megan made it 2-0, beating Murray from the wall midway through the first period.</p><p>Wilkes-Barre/Scranton got one back in the second after finishing off a penalty kill. Clark Seymour&#8217;s blast beat McKenna for the defenseman&#8217;s third goal of the season on assists by Will O&#8217;Neill and Dominik Uher.</p><p>But the Penguins couldn&#8217;t solve McKenna again despite outshooting the Pirates 39-29. An 0-for-3 showing on the power play didn&#8217;t help matters either.</p><p>McKenna was named first star of the night, followed by Megan and Murray.</p><p>A rematch is set for Saturday night as the two teams meet again in Portland at 7 p.m. The Penguins are scheduled to close out the weekend road trip on Sunday afternoon in Providence with a 3 p.m. showdown with the Bruins.</p><p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Portland 2, Penguins 1</strong></p><p><strong>Penguins`0`1`0`&#8212;`1</strong></p><p><strong>Portland`2`0`0`&#8212;`2</strong></p><p><strong>First period &#8212; </strong>1.
