Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area ranks 66th among 100 metro areas for science and tech jobs

<p>SCRANTON &#8212; A Tobyhanna man who used more than $8,000 in phony cash at two area casinos was sentenced this week, the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office announced Tuesday.</p><p>Jason Mitchell, 31, was sentenced to 21 months behind bars by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley in Scranton after he conspired with others to pass approximately $8,500 in counterfeit $100 bills at Mount Airy Casino in Mount Pocono and Mohegan Sun Pocono Casino in Plains Township in June 2014, prosecutors said.</p><p>A federal grand jury indicted Mitchell in November 2014. He pleaded guilty in September 2015 to conspiracy to pass counterfeit United States Federal Reserve Notes, prosecutors said.</p><p>Andrew Turner, 28, and Michael Turner, 22, both from Tobyhanna, are also facing similar charges they conspired with Mitchell to use the counterfeit cash at various gaming tables including blackjack and roulette, according to court documents.</p><p>The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service and the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Gaming Enforcement.</p><style>
