SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man who tried to steal an automatic teller machine with a chain attached to a vehicle is headed to state prison. Thirty-four-year-old Billy Ray Naill, of Somerset, was sentenced Monday to 18 months to five years in prison. He was convicted earlier this month of criminal mischief, attempted theft and conspiracy. Police say Naill and two other men drove to the First Commonwealth Bank in Jerome and tried to drag away or bust open the machine using the chain in December 2014. The attempt failed and the men didn't get any money. Cousins Trevor and Michael Merkel were previously sentenced to one to five years in prison each. They also got three to six months in jail for contempt of court after refusing to testify against Naill.
