LANGHORNE, Pa. (AP) — A suspended suburban Philadelphia high school basketball coach who physically confronted a referee during a game earlier this month has been permanently dismissed from his coaching duties. The Neshaminy school board in Bucks County voted Tuesday night to remove Jerry Devine as head coach of the Neshaminy High School boys varsity team. Devine was ejected after physically confronting a referee Jan. 5 after a foul call. He was suspended from his coaching duties, but was allowed to return to his job as a special education teacher. Prosecutors later recommended a harassment citation for Devine, saying there was no attempt to cause injury. Devine's phone number rang unanswered Wednesday night. Assistant coach John Masson has taken over the team for the rest of the season. A permanent coach hasn't been named.
