Councilman sparks outcry with musician, DJ registry proposal

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police say a woman who apparently killed herself in a western Pennsylvania hotel room likely killed her mother in Buffalo, New York. Police in Cranberry Township, about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh, are working with Buffalo police. Police are not releasing the names of either woman while the investigation continues. Cranberry police say a 55-year-old woman was found dead in the Red Roof Inn about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. Police say she had unspecified self-inflicted wounds that didn't involve a gun. Other evidence in the room led investigators to contact Buffalo police to check on the welfare of her mother. That woman, who is 85, was found dead in her home by Buffalo police about an hour later. Cranberry police say the deaths are being treated as a murder-suicide.
