HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — A former New York City police officer who authorities say jumped in front of a train after killing his former girlfriend with a machete has pleaded not guilty. Arthur Lomando, of Centereach, New York, appeared in court in Hackensack, New Jersey, on Thursday to enter the plea for a murder charge in the October death of Suzanne Bardzell. Authorities say he ambushed Bardzell in her car in Midland Park and hours later jumped in front of the New York subway. Lomando had both of his feet amputated. Lomando says in a recent $50 million lawsuit against New York's transit authority that he fell from the platform after he was jostled in the overcrowded station.
