MILWAUKEE (AP) — France's justice minister, who unexpectedly resigned this week, will receive an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The university says former French Justice Minister Christiane Taubira is expected to attend a ceremony on campus Saturday in honor of her "commitment to the values of liberty and equality for all." Taubira resigned Wednesday after objecting to President Francois Hollande's push to revoke citizenship from convicted terrorists with dual nationality. Taubira, from French Guiana on the Caribbean coast, pushed to legalize gay marriage and is a pioneer for women and minorities in French politics. The former economics professor was the first woman elected as Guiana's deputy to the French National Assembly and served four consecutive terms from 1992 to 2012. Hollande appointed her Minister of Justice in 2012.
