Lower gas prices giving consumers a boost

<p>WILKES-BARRE TWP. &#8212; An apparent chain reaction after one SUV rear-ended another ultimately involved five vehicles and 10 people, with dozens more caught in the aftermath of the collision on Highland Park Boulevard approaching Mundy Street Saturday afternoon.</p><p>Despite the scope of the accident, no one was injured, though two pregnant women near the back of the mess were taken to the hospital as a precaution, Wilkes-Barre Township Police Sgt. Mark Hampton said.</p><p>Township firefighters and emergency responders were quick on the scene shortly after the collision occurred around 2 p.m., and had most of the cars off to the side and the debris swept up so traffic could move sporadically in both directions by 2:30.</p><p>Even after they began to move, cars were lined well past the intersection of Wilkes-Barre Boulevard, backed up along Coal Street. Other neighboring arteries, including many near the Wyoming Valley Mall on Mundy street, were also clogged as a result of the accident.</p><style>
