Local College: Misericordia women’s basketball team falls to FDU-Florham

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Good food, good drinks &#8212; and it&#8217;s all for a good cause.</p><p>That was the evening&#8217;s agenda for the Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania&#8217;s Celebrity Bartender Night on Saturday.</p><p>The event, held at Bart &amp; Urby&#8217;s with top-notch food and drink, aimed to benefit all of the various programs funded by the Family Service Association. Such programs include the Parent Child Home Program, Intensive Family Reunification Services, their emergency Help Line, Children&#8217;s Center-A Advocacy Center and many more.</p><p>&#8220;This is sort of a &#8216;warm-up&#8217; event, getting in gear for the Spring Gala and Auction,&#8221; said Mike Zimmerman, the chief executive 0fficer of the Family Service Association.</p><p>&#8220;We are very excited to see the turnout,&#8221; he added. &#8220;We&#8217;re expecting anywhere from 60 to 80 people tonight. Last year, the bartender event grew exponentially, and we are hoping that kind of growth continues into this year.&#8221;</p><p>The event featured many types of dishes &#8212; shrimp platters, meat trays, hors d&#8217;voires, desserts and more &#8212; all available to attendees for a $10 donation.</p><p>The event also featured many local &#8220;celebrities&#8221; as bartenders, such as John Dawe, of the Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, and Amy Feldman, a longtime veteran of the local not-for-profit community, as well as many others.</p><p>This event is a pre-cursor for the Spring Gala and Auction to be held on March 18 at the Woodlands Inn in Plains Township.
