Letter to the Editor: Reader praises newspaper carriers who deliver dose of morning happiness

<p>With a sincere thank you, the White Haven Community Library thanks all of the artisans, volunteers and attendees who helped to make our quilt show an enjoyable and successful fundraiser for our nonprofit library.</p><p>The weather was sunny and warm for December, which helped to raise attendance to the highest yet for this event.</p><p>Our quilts were a beautiful addition to the Victorian backdrop of the event house, supplied to us by Terry and Trish Kimmey. We thank them as well as the library members, local individuals and the Quilterie, in Effort, which supplied the beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilts.</p><p>Not to be forgotten, we are so grateful to the hardworking library volunteers who always go above and beyond to make our events successful. We appreciate the donations of their time, homemade baked goods and the handmade items that added to the success of our event.</p><p>We are proud of our library and its history, being a dying breed of disappearing engine houses.</p><p>Since we are a nonprofit, we rely on grants, donations and fundraising to further our cause to finish our engine house, while providing a place that the community can use and in which it can take pride.</p><p>Our major goal for 2016 is to finish our community room to offer the public a gathering place for meetings, get-togethers, etc. With that in mind, we are hosting a &#8220;Hops &amp; Grapes&#8221; event on April 30 at St. Patrick&#8217;s Church in White Haven. Watch for upcoming ads.</p><p>Also, we presently have collectible ornaments for sale that depict the engine house on one side and, on the back, a description of its history. In addition, for rail enthusiasts, there are also engineer hats with our one-of-a kind patches with our logo on the front. Those items are for sale at the library. To purchase either item, see a volunteer at the front desk.</p><p>If you can, stop by to see our progress and displays of local memorabilia.
