Letter to the Editor: Circus fan encourages consideration of ‘facts’ on animal care

The pro-life march at our nation&#8217;s capital on Jan. 22 was held once again this year and thousands participated, much to their credit.They were joined, to be sure, by the millions of unborn babies, boys and girls, whose lives were taken away from them before they were born. In this great nation of ours, that is legal due to the infamous decision 43 years ago by five justices of our Supreme Court. The shame of it is that we allowed that decision, claiming it is a &#8220;woman&#8217;s right to choose&#8221; whether a baby lives or dies, to stand without being overturned.A woman does not have the right to kill, nor does a man. God said, &#8220;Thou shalt not kill.&#8221; There are exceptions: self-defense, a just war and perhaps another.Similarly, five Supreme Court justices, Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayer and Stephen Breyer ruled that two people of the same gender could &#8220;marry.&#8221; That is not what God said in Genesis. Just who do we think we are that we can overturn God&#8217;s laws?If we consider our Founding Fathers, Washington, Adams, Jefferson, as examples, and then skip ahead, &#8220;four score and seven years&#8221; to Abraham Lincoln, we find that they all mentioned God as our creator and the source of all laws. They gave us a god-fearing country based upon Judeo-Christian values, one which welcomed others of different religions if they were people of good faith. We are now a godless, secular, materialistic nation. What happened?Can we return to that nation of greatness, a beacon of morality and values to those of other countries? It is unlikely that we will hear anything to guide us from the White House or others; we must do what we as individuals can, each in his or her own way.Guns don&#8217;t kill people, people with evil intent do. We can begin to combat evil by putting a stop to the killing the unborn. This is not the Nazi regime under Adolf Hitler.
