MAKHACHKALA, Russia (AP) — Hundreds of people, most of them women, have protested outside a maternity hospital in Russia's southern Dagestan region where a woman died after giving birth to twins. The protesters blamed doctors for the death of the 34-year-old woman, who already had four older children. Police spokeswoman Fatina Ubaidatova said on Thursday that an estimated 600 people took part in Wednesday's protest at the maternity hospital in the city of Khasavyurt and some threw stones at the building in anger. She said police then moved in to guard the building. Investigators said they are looking into the death of the woman to determine whether criminal charges should be filed. She died on Friday, two days after delivering the twins by cesarean section.
