Skier from Washington dies after accident in Pennsylvania

RIDGWAY, Pa. (AP) — Police and a coroner have been investigating the death of a 5-year-old boy in a central Pennsylvania apartment. Ridgway police Chief Ralph Tettis said Wednesday that emergency responders believe the boy had been dead awhile before he was found by his aunt about 8 a.m. The woman had been taking care of the boy, who may have died sometime after he went to bed the night before. Elk County Coroner Michelle Muccio was unavailable for comment Thursday and Tettis says he has no new details to release. The chief declined to say whether police suspect foul play. He says police always investigate the unexplained deaths of children. A state police forensic unit from Punxsutawney was also called to process the death scene. Ridgway is about 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
