<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A New York man pleaded guilty Thursday to charges he shot a man outside the Sherman Hills Housing Complex last summer and mocked his cries.</p><p>Kareem Owens, 35, of Brooklyn, New York, pleaded guilty in Luzerne County Court to a single felony count of aggravated assault and two felony firearms offenses. Court documents indicate Owens is scheduled to be sentenced in April to 3 to 6 years in prison.</p><p>Judge David W. Lupas ordered Owens to pay $357 in restitution to state police for lab fees.</p><p>According to criminal complaint:</p><p>Police patrolling the Sherman Hills Housing Complex on Aug. 6 heard a gunshot ring out and someone scream out in pain from a nearby parking lot. The officers encountered three males, including a man in a gray hooded-sweatshirt who county dispatchers indicated could have the weapon.</p><p>Two of the males complied with officers&#8217; orders to get on the ground, but the male in the hoodie, later identified as Owens, refused to comply and pushed an officer before attempting to flee. One of the officers stunned Owens with a Taser but Owens continued to battle back.</p><p>A silver revolver then fell out of Owens&#8217; hoodie, but was retrieved before he could pick it up. The serial number was etched off the weapon and a spent round was found inside. Owens was eventually restrained and cuffed.</p><p>Tashana Mickens later told police Owens was her ex-boyfriend, and the man he shot was her current boyfriend, Keith Habersham. Habersham was shot in the leg and was writhing in pain.</p><p>A car that crashed into the victim&#8217;s tractor trailer spurred the argument, which then escalated, Mickens said.</p><p>While handcuffed in the police car, Owens mimicked Habersham&#8217;s gunshot-induced screams, police said.</p><p>&#8220;That (expletive) was crying like a baby,&#8221; Owens allegedly said.</p><style>
