PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A man accused of dragging a Philadelphia police officer with his car over the weekend has been charged with aggravated assault and other counts. Police said officers saw the car driving without headlights in west Philadelphia just before 2 a.m. Sunday. They told the driver to shut off the engine, but instead he put the car in gear and accelerated. The officer was knocked off-balance, grabbed the car and was dragged. The car was later found and 52-year-old Kevin Cooke of Cheltenham was arrested after a chase. Police said the officer was unhurt but "his equipment, boots and firearm had visible damage from sliding on the highway." The Defender Association of Philadelphia didn't immediately return a call seeking comment and a telephone listed in Cooke's name wasn't working Monday.
