WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says the United States is working with Italy to push back against efforts by the Islamic State group to gain a foothold in Libya. Obama has met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, who is making a week-long visit to the U.S. Obama says the two leaders also spent a lot of time discussing the global refugee crisis, which Obama describes as a global problem, not just a European problem. Obama says there's a need to work in concert to go after human traffickers. The two leaders also talked about importance of completing a free trade agreement between the United States and the European Union. Mattarella says the U.S. and Italy agreed on a "balanced and humane" approach to dealing with refugees.
