Appeal rejected for man convicted in Fort Dix plot

VANDERGRIFT, Pa. (AP) — A specialty metals firm in western Pennsylvania is suing a Philadelphia-based railroad after a derailed car hit its building two years ago. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports (http://bit.ly/1V8lZQn ) that MSI Corp. filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against Norfolk Southern Railway for damages. No one was injured in the February 2014 derailment, but the metals firm says a train car pierced one of the company's Vandergrift buildings, located about 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh The company says more than 4,000 gallons of heavy crude oil were also leaked. The lawsuit says excessive speed, poor operation by an engineer trainee, and poorly maintained train tracks caused the derailment.
