Kingston residents hear about plans for ‘Our Town’ program

The high school wrestling postseason for most teams in the area doesn&#8217;t begin until next weekend&#8217;s District 2 Championships at the Kingston Armory.But one local squad will start its postseason on Friday as Wyoming Seminary participates in the Pennsylvania Prep Championships at Malvern Prep High School.The Blue Knights, who are expected to run away with the team championship, are shooting for their 10th straight state title. Last year, they shattered the points record at the tournament with a score of 375.It might sound outrageous, but Sem appears to have a good chance to break that mark. The team crowned 12 champions at last year&#8217;s event and four of them are back with the squad looking for another title.In 13 of 14 weights, the Knights have a wrestler ranked in the top 11 in the latest National Prep Rankings. All 13 are touted in the top three in Pennsylvania, including 10 being the No. 1 wrestler in the state, according to the rankings.Seminary&#8217;s returning state prep champs from who are ranked are Trent Olson (132 pounds), Will Verallis (160), Nick Reenan (182) and Mike Rogers (285). Reenan is ranked No. 1 in the country along with teammates Mason Manville (152) and Will Hilliard (220).Others expected to be in the state tournament and are ranked in the national prep rankings are Justin Hoyle (106), Benny Baker (113), Jack Davis (120), Jake Riegel (126), Patrick Munn (138), Greg Kleinsmith (170) and Chris Dietrich (195). In 2015, Sem qualified all 14 wrestlers for the National Prep Championships, which will be held next weekend at Lehigh University.Wrestling starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Malvern Prep with the first three rounds. The tournament resumes Saturday morning at 9 with the semifinals. The consolation finals begin at 11:30 a.m. with the championship finals slated for 2 p.m.Sem is ranked second in the country according to InterMat and has five wrestlers ranked by the publication, which includes all high schools in the nation.
