KINGSTON TWP. &#8212; For 19 years, Robert Nause offered design options for the busiest room in any home &#8212; the kitchen.Nause, owner and president of Top Value Kitchens with locations at 17 East Center St.in Shavertown and 6 Oakwood Dr in Scranton, provides a variety of cabinetry, countertops, hardware choices so clients can incorporate personal style to their kitchens, bathrooms, offices and much more.The 52-year-old Swoyersville resident graduated from Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre with a degree in English Literature and Communications but found he had a talent for interior design.Nause combined his talent with a knowledgeable staff, quality products to meet the needs of clients from Harveys Lake, Dallas, Pittston, Scranton and the surrounding areas.&#8220;We can create different configurations to satisfy the needs and wants of our customers,&#8221; he said.To meet growing demand, Nause expanded Top Value Kitchens and opened a second location in Scranton a year ago.Where did you go to college?Wilkes CollegeWhat was your major?English Literature and CommunicationsWhat was your first job out of college?Public Relations Manager for The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of CommerceWhat has been the best advice you received in business?Treat others as you would like to be treatedIf your business had a limitless budget, what would be three things you would do differently?I would open several more stores so more people can enjoy the great experience of visiting our showrooms; increase our advertising budget and provide a very generous bonus to my dedicated and hard working staff.What are our area&#8217;s biggest strengths and weaknesses?One of the strengths of the area is the large number of entertainment venues available, along with numerous outdoor activities such as golf, canoeing and hiking.One of our major weaknesses is illegal drug use and associated criminal activity.Where did you grow up?I grew up in Sugarloaf.Tell us about your family.I am married to my wife, Bobbi; have a daughter, Angeli, 20, studying at Temple University in Philadelphia; and a son, Ben, 18, at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove.What&#8217;s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?I turn on the coffee and read both newspapers while watching the news.What&#8217;s the last thing you do at night before you fall asleep?I&#8217;ll watch some television right before going to sleep.Where&#8217;s your favorite place to go on vacation?The Finger Lakes in New York has always been one of our family favorites.What&#8217;s your biggest fear?My biggest fears are injuries or serious illness to my family.What&#8217;s your favorite restaurant and/or meal?Marianacci&#8217;s in West Wyoming. They have great food and the owners are great people.What do you want to do when you retire?Although I&#8217;m saving for retirement, I have no plans to retire at this point. I think I would find retirement too boring.<style>
