EXCHANGE: EXCHANGE-REDUCING POLICE TRAFFIC DEATHS PITTSBURGH — Training showing police ways to reduce the chances of dying in a traffic-related incident included something as simple as buckling up. For 27-year police veteran Scott Slagle, the message provided during a recent training program in Delmont was preaching to the choir. Washington Township's police chief said he believes seat belts twice saved his life, so he requires all on-duty officers in his department to wear the restraints. He and about 70 officers from a number of departments took part in recent training sponsored by PennDOT and the Southwest Regional Traffic Safety Network. DEADLY CRASH — Police say they have arrested a driver in connection with a high-speed crash in northeast Philadelphia last summer that killed three people and left a car split in half. UNIVERSITY STUDENT STABBED — Authorities say they have identified three suspects in a stabbing that sent an eastern Pennsylvania university student to the hospital. LITTLESTOWN FIRE — Authorities say a fire in central Pennsylvania killed a man and displaced 19 other people, almost half of them children. BALD EAGLES-PITTSBURGH — A third egg has been spotted in the Pittsburgh nest of a pair of bald eagles. PHILADELPHIA VIOLENCE — Police say three people were killed in different parts of Philadelphia overnight and several others were wounded. SUV CRASH — Authorities say a sport utility vehicle went out of control and overturned on a north Philadelphia road, critically injuring a man and two young boys and also injuring four other people. SPORTS: BKN--76ERS-MAVERICKS DALLAS — The Mavericks, who set an NBA record earlier this year by playing four straight overtime games at home, are coming off three straight in OT, including two losses, going into a visit from Philadelphia.
