SAYLORSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A northeastern Pennsylvania man has been charged with clubbing his dog on the head with a hammer and stabbing her. Brandon Cramer of Saylorsburg faces a misdemeanor count and three summary counts of animal cruelty. The Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals filed the charges on Tuesday in Monroe County. Acting on a tip, SPCA officers found the critically injured mastiff-type dog with head and stab wounds on Feb. 12. The SPCA says in the dog, named Michaella, is being treated at a veterinary hospital. Officers also charged Cramer with failing to provide veterinary care for two other dogs. A valid phone number for Cramer could not be located, and it's not clear whether he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
