Justice's ethics case could be resolved at Thursday hearing

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A doctor has been sentenced to six years behind bars for prescription practices that prosecutors say were responsible for putting thousands of pills in circulation in western Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://bit.ly/20TA6un ) reports that 63-year-old Glenn Davis was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Johnstown. Davis pleaded guilty to two dozen counts of distribution of controlled substances outside of normal medical practice in what authorities charged was a two-year game of "prescription roulette." Investigators say one patient who was fired from her job for failing a drug test was being prescribed more than 5,000 powerful pain pills in one month. Prosecutors said one 57-year-old patient fatally overdosed two days after filling a prescription for 350 oxycodone pills.
