The former Philadelphia Phillies star filed the lawsuit in Philadelphia on Friday. He alleges Cornucopia Events failed to get him and his wife into the 2015 New York City lingerie show even though he paid nearly $70,000 for three VIP packages. WOMAN DEAD ON ROAD — A man has been charged with abusing the corpse of a Philadelphia woman found dead on the side of a central Pennsylvania road on Valentine's Day. Police say 59-year-old Robert Moir met 35-year-old Corinne Pena in the Philadelphia area and brought her back to the State College area after spending several nights together in a hotel. DUI SUSPECT HITS HOUSE — Pittsburgh police say a drunken driver smashed into the front door of a house in the city's Polish Hill neighborhood. Police say the owners of the home were sleeping when 32-year-old Lorenzo Owens lost control of his vehicle and hit the house about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday. Neither Owens nor the home's occupants were hurt. LADDER FALL DEATH — A 56-year-old supermarket employee has died after he fell from a ladder at a store in central Pennsylvania earlier this month. The York County coroner's office said that Steven Melhorn, of Springettsbury, died Sunday after a week in the hospital after the accident at the store in Shrewsbury. NAVY CONTRACTOR-FRAUD — Federal attorneys say a former U.S. Navy contractor from central Pennsylvania has admitted under a plea deal to giving false statements after he defrauded subcontractors out of more than $1.2 million. Pennlive.com reports that prosecutors say Andrew Persaud pleaded guilty on Tuesday to submitting a false statement in connection with a 2011 contract to renovate warehouses at the Naval Support Activity Center. RANGE RESOURCE-VIOLATIONS — An oil and gas operator says it's trying to bring dozens of its Pennsylvania drilling sites into compliance with environmental laws. A Range Resources spokesman tells Pennlive.com that the company is working the Department of Environmental Protection. TAX REFUND-FRAUD — Federal prosecutors say an eastern Pennsylvania man used stolen identities to fraudulently deposit $1.6 million in tax refund checks into an account he owned. Prosecutors on Tuesday said Diego Rojas was indicted last month in Scranton and faces up to 20 years in prison if he's convicted.
