WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) — An oil and gas operator says it's trying to bring dozens of its Pennsylvania drilling sites into compliance with environmental laws. A Range Resources spokesman tells Pennlive.com that the company is working the Department of Environmental Protection. The agency on Friday said dozens of the company's Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling pads in Washington and Allegheny counties weren't cleaned within 9 months after drilling. Marcellus Shale is a sedimentary rock that contains natural gas deposits. An agency spokesman said Monday that most violations began in 2014 and 2015. Some dated back to 2012. An investigation came after the company responded to a letter last summer requesting a status update on the wells' restorations. State officials tell The Observer-Reporter that the violations aren't expected to lead to fines.
